Why in the world as humans we feel the need to over complicate just about anything. Really we do this.
Some things I think, have simple directions and we can always mess it up. Sometimes by, thinking we know better than the directions that come with the piece of Ikea furniture, then halfway through realize we missed something and have to start un-assembling to get back to where we went wrong. Let’s go back to the beginning with Adam and Eve in the garden. All they had to do was to obey, but they wanted their way, and ate the forbidden fruit, bringing all kinds of complication to the world. This pattern has continued in man kind as we continually choose the wrong option, the easy way, what feels nicer, etc. Choices that continually lead us to complicated situations taking more efforts to get out. A personal example for me is gained weight over the last decade. Instead of doing small and smart steps along the way to stay healthy and maintain that. I chose to go the easy way of not doing little difficulties and making small smart decisions. After going the easy and comfortable way for so long, now to get back on track where I want to be will require a much more severe and complicated approach. Much more sacrifice and work now.
When there is an option that has a little resistance, that may be a sign to take it verses too many easy paths that lead to complacent waters of compromise. Rising from that is much harder. Thinking of a hiking trail with a final destination of getting to the top. If we are going to get to the top I am sure there are a few trails to take. Maybe one is straight up, hard climbing but short distance to get to the peak. Another way be stair stepped to having some climbing intense segments with some small rising segments where you can catch your break and ease your muscles. The third would be the lolly loop that has some flat and depending trails moving around the mountain but not getting you closer to the top. IF you were ever to take this path the chances to seeing the peak is slim to none. But this is the easier path, wide path and lots of folks are on it.
Thinking from a distance we would never take this third path, we are much better and more driven than that. Sure, but I bet alot of the areas in our lives look like the lolly loop path.
There is no better time that now to start taking the difficult ways, not over complicate things in our lives, keep it simple and move forward.
